The Trustees have decided on establishing an Annual Award for " Investigative Journalism on the North- East" for Indian Journalists, in Memory of Hemanta Kumar Gupta and Kalpana Gupta to be known as "Hemanta-Kalpana Award".
The Logo : The three colours of the National tri-colour were very dear to Hemanta Kumar Gupta and Kalpana Gupta. Thus the three colours has been used in the logo of the Trust. Green represents the whole of India, The white sun represents the rising sun of the north–east. The saffron flame represents journalism and its positive impact on the north-east and the nation . The navy blue writing Hemanta- Kalpana Memorial Trust represents the commitment of the Trust to honour journalists who love and care for their Motherland.
